Album CoverWhere's it going to end? Everyday the planes unload more and more passengers, streaming into Hawaii from every corner of the world. Won't Hawaii's unrivalled natural vacationland resources run out?

Not a chance! Hawaii is more than the total of mile-long white and black sand beaches, cool rain-forest waterfalls, beautiful girls, and spectacular tropical nights. The real charm of the islands is reflected by the people, and in turn, their music. For visitors the music holds the spell of enchantment that is so much the real Hawaii.

On an evening's stroll through Waikiki, the visitor comes across Hawaiian music in a multitude of forms, capturing the feel of the 50th state.

In recent years, island visitors have been taking home with them a vivid musical memory straight from Waikiki. And it was created by a quintet of talent-packed boys known as Buddy Fo and His Group.

Buddy Fo has modernized a wide range of Hawaiian and popular standards, backing them with their own swingin' or smooth arrangements. The sounds, which can pour forth with all the sock of a big band, all comes from Buddy Fo and His Group. They can turn a virtuoso performance on better than two dozen instruments.

Their understanding of the material comes naturally — many of Buddy Fo's Group are descendants of the early Hawaiians who made their island paradise world famous through their music. Coupled with up-to-date musical ideas, expressed through rich vocal stylings, the end result is an exciting and memorable performance. And it's all here, on their first recording.

Here then, are musical invitations to Hawaii; not the remote, sparsely populated haven of the past, but the bustling 50th state, which somehow in this 20th century world still maintains a musical touch with yesterday. Buddy Fo and His Group ... the sound of modern Hawaii.
